Amsterdam Pride!

Out i n Amsterdam to enjoy Pride weekend with some friends. In proper Dutch fashion it's overcast and rainy, but that's not dampening anyone's spirits. Currently in a snackbar for some quick carba, and then it's off to the boats! In Amsterdam, our Pride parade floats actually float :)

I've been shooting some videos on my new toy, so I'll see about editing those together on the road home. Peace!

The rise and fall of 3D Cinema: Is it a fad after all?

Because my left eye is a douchebag I'm unable to perceive 3D cinema. The experience is merely uncomfortable, as I wear goofy glasses over my normal glasses, get a headache, and am frequently baffled by dark scenes because the glasses dim the image and I'm also slightly nightblind.

I'm sure 3D is neat and all, for people who can actually see it. I can't quite imagine people being willing to endure the discomfort, not to mention unfashionable humiliation, on a very regular basis.

Autostereoscopy, though limited in its applications, could well be popular, though. The 3DS seems promising! At least it won't require goofy glasses -- and for the depthblind like myself, there's a switch to turn the effect off entirely. Well done, Nintendo!
